During summer, the temperature outside will be high naturally. Workout increases your body temperature which results in sweating. In summer, you can sink your towel with more sweat because of heat. If your body is continuously working to stabilize your body’s temperature (like Sweating).
Here are a few things that one needs to remember while working out.
Summer really brings the heat up
Summer is one of the good times of the year to work out as you can burn more calories by doing the same set of workouts you usually do in winter and still shed more calories.
Experts suggest that the best time to work out in summer is either in the early morning or the evening and shaded areas should be chosen.
Pump it up with the right fluids
Alcoholic or caffeinated beverages are diuretic and also, they take out body fluids, and hence it is highly recommended to avoid consuming them at least before and after workouts.
Drink lots of water to keep your body hydrated. Make sure to take a bottle of water with you whenever you work out.
Drink water before, during, and after your workout. So that you don’t get dehydrated and try to stay away from aerated drinks or caffeinated beverages.
Fluids keep your body hydrated; without them, your body won’t function. The great solution is, of course, to drink enough fluids when you exercise. Make fluid replacement a priority when you’re physically active.
Right time and place makes it better
Working out during the right time of the day can make all the difference. Try and work out when the sun’s radiation is minimal either during the early morning or early evening.
Exercising indoors cuts a great deal as it reduces your exposure to the sun. This decreases your chances of getting a heat stroke. For that, go to a gym or join Zumba classes or if you are a runner, run early in the morning or post-sunset.
Gear up to tear up the heat
Always prefer lite-coloured cotton clothes as the lite colours reflect the heat and cotton clothes aids in better absorption of sweat. Also, make sure you’ve applied sunscreen for better skin protection.
This is mainly useful for people who work out outdoors. Make sure the clothes are not too tight as they can cause both discomfort and restricted breathing, mainly during HIITs (High-Intensity Interval Training).
Should you still workout in summer?
Regardless of the season, exercise will always be useful for the fitness of your body and mind. But, summer is like a jackpot for people who workout where you would do less exercise and still sweat a tonne. So, Sculpt yourself with nature’s help.
PS: Check your hydration levels often. A good way to test hydration level is the colour of your urine. If it’s pale and clear, you’re well hydrated. The darker it is, the more fluid you need to drink.
